Fire Adapter Bin Night Deck Fog in on a naval deck in rough wind in Turkmenistan

Fire Adapter Bin Night Deck Fog

by Phillip Cook

Deep night shadows wrap a blank fire adapter bin standing on a naval deck. Cold moonlight flattens the matte paint of the steel container, revealing scratches along the side edges. Canvas rolls rest beside the bin, their fabric texture rough against the smooth metal. Stamped cards lean against the corner, their paper surfaces stark white in the dim light. Heavy rubber tires sit at the base, at the base of the equipment on the wet deck. Ground fog pools low around the bin, drifting across the steel legs and obscuring the concrete floor. Wind ripples the canvas edges, pulling the fabric taut against the frame. A small metal latch catches the moonlight, gleaming briefly before fading into the surrounding darkness.
