Espresso Machine in Brussels

Rain-slicked cobblestones reflect the flat grey light of a Brussels winter noon, framing a corner café where a barista in a dark apron wipes down a chrome espresso machine. A white ceramic mug sits on the wet counter, steam rising faintly into the cold air, while a half-eaten pastry rests on a napkin beside it. Through the rain-streaked window, blurred figures in heavy coats hurry past under umbrellas, their movements distorted by the wet glass. The interior is warm and dim compared to the overcast exterior, with shelves of coffee bags lining the back wall. A small potted herb plant, wilting slightly from the dry indoor heat, sits near the register, against the damp chill visible outside.
