Endless Corridor Pool Start Block Rack in Lome

by Nicolas Snider

Late afternoon sun streams through sheer curtains, illuminating a metal rack holding black foam start-block covers in a recovery lounge beside Lome. The light casts sharp, rectangular patches across the concrete floor and the matte gray rollers resting nearby. A mirrored surface behind the rack reflects the equipment, but the reflection reveals a corridor extending infinitely backward, far beyond the physical walls of the room. This impossible depth creates a visual paradox where the training space stretches into an unseen void. Dry season air leaves the dust motes still in the sunbeams. The metal edges of the rack gleam where the light hits, against the deep shadows of the endless hallway visible only in the glass. One reflection of a door frame hangs suspended in the infinite stretch.
