Enamel Bowls in Phuket

A stack of chipped enamel bowls rests on a wet bamboo mat in a dimly lit kitchen corner of a Phuket home. Rainwater beads on the blue and white surfaces, reflecting the soft gray light filtering through the open doorway. One wooden spoon lies beside the stack, its handle stained with years of stirring coconut milk and curry pastes. Water droplets rest on the rim of the top bowl, catching the faint morning glow.
