A street vendor in a faded blue raincoat stands behind a stainless steel cart, lifting the lid from a large bamboo steamer. Thick white steam billows upward into the cool early morning air, catching the pale light filtering through the mist. Condensation coats the inside of a nearby glass partition, blurring the view of the wet asphalt street and passing scooters. The vendor uses a wooden paddle to arrange round white buns, their matte surfaces glistening slightly. In the background, the curved roofline of a traditional temple contrasts with modern high-rise buildings. A small sign with red Chinese characters hangs above the cart, marking the spot in this bustling Taipei neighborhood.
