Cool morning light spills over the tiled roof of a narrow Izmir house, catching the vibrant blue and yellow tiles that define the local architecture. On a small balcony, a wicker chair sits next to a terracotta flowerpot holding a resilient geranium, its leaves glistening with dew. A simple metal latch on the window frame reflects the pale sky, while a few pearl necklaces hang loosely from a hook, catching the early sun.
