Dress Appliques Drying on Parchment Backstage

Flat noon light cuts through sheer curtains, illuminating a narrow backstage corridor in Rittenhouse. A white parchment sheet lies flat against a metal surface near a wall heater. Delicate fabric flower appliques, stitched in varying shades of deep red and muted gold, rest upon the paper. Their petals show slight tension as they dry. Condensation beads along the edge of a nearby glass pane, catching the harsh overhead glare. The metal of the heater glows faintly beneath the parchment. Textures of stiffened silk and smooth paper dominate the frame. A sharp shadow from the heater vent falls across the corner of the sheet. The red thread ends hang loosely near the edge.
