Dog in Bristol at First Light

Morning light washes over the wet pavement of Stokes Croft, reflecting the faded orange and teal of a nearby mural. A woman in a yellow raincoat pauses at the entrance of a corner shop, shaking water from her umbrella. Beside her, a Wirehaired Vizsla stands patiently on the slick concrete, its coarse fur damp and dark against the pale stone. The dog’s leash is tangled slightly around the handle of a brown paper bag. Behind them, the shop’s glass door is streaked with rain, obscuring the glimpse of stacked tea tins inside. A wirehaired dog’s tail gives a single, low thump against the doorframe, a quiet rhythm in the damp air.
