Dog in Amman at Golden Hour
by Haley Lowe
On the dusty, sun-bleached concrete roof of a West Amman residential block, a brown dog lies stretched out in the golden hour light, its fur glowing amber against the rough, pebbled surface of the wet mud patch left by recent irrigation. Nearby, a faded blue and white porcelain plate rests on a low wooden crate, holding a half-eaten kebab, while a few colorful kites hang limp from a clothesline in the background, their strings tangled against the hazy skyline of limestone buildings. A quiet moment of rest, with the dog’s relaxed posture mirroring the stillness of the urban landscape, as the warm light casts long, soft shadows across the scattered household items and the distant, bustling city below.
