A stainless steel dish rack sits on a wet concrete ledge outside a riverside kitchen, its surface slick with rainwater from the recent storm. Soft steam clouds the lower edge of the adjacent window, blurring the view of the darkened interior and the distant riverbank. One white ceramic bowl rests in the rack, catching the pale, diffused light of the early morning sky. Water droplets rest on the metal prongs, reflecting the muted gray tones of the overcast dawn.
