Cyclist Waiting in Seoul
by Raul Taylor
A wide, flat horizon shot shows a quiet intersection in Seoul during winter noon, where the sky is a pale, washed-out white. In the mid-ground, a delivery cyclist in a thick, wind-resistant parka waits at a crosswalk, his face obscured by a scarf and the glare of the sun reflecting off the wet asphalt. The street is lined with modern glass-fronted cafes and older brick buildings, their facades marked by the subtle grime of urban life. One, deflated kite lies tangled in a chain-link fence on the sidewalk, its bright red tail contrasting sharply with the gray concrete. Rain boots are stacked haphazardly near the entrance of a small convenience store, their rubber surfaces slick with melted snow.
