The early spring air holds a stillness, allowing the polished rim of the plate to catch tiny, sharp highlights against the matte grain of the weathered wood. Steam is not visible, suggesting the meal has cooled slightly in the pre-dawn quiet. The colors are deep and earthy, with the dark beans contrasting against the pale rice and the warm amber tones of the sauce. A small reflection of the window light glints off a drop of sauce on the table edge near the plate.
