Late afternoon sun slants through the open front of a modest teak workshop in Chiang Mai, illuminating a dusty workbench where a ceramic mixing spoon rests beside a half-empty jar of natural dye. Beyond the threshold, the street is alive with the motion of a motorbike passing, its rider blurred by speed, while the deep shadow of the interior contrasts sharply with the bright, heat-hazed air outside. Woven baskets stacked against the wall hold bundles of dried local herbs, their textures rough and organic against the smooth, worn wood of the counter.
