Stark fluorescent light bleaches the white cotton toile of a couture jacket, revealing precise black balance lines and vivid red pencil notations scrawled across the fabric. The garment rests on a dark, worn tailoring table near Saint-Marc, surrounded by scattered tools: silver shears with black handles and chunks of white chalk. Deep night shadows stretch along the walls, against the harsh overhead glow that highlights the texture of the unbleached muslin. The dry season air leaves the fabric crisp and taut, showing every crease and stitch mark. Red ink smudges slightly where a hand leaned heavily during late-night adjustments. One shadow from the shears falls across the lower hem.
