Rain-slicked adobe walls of a Santa Fe plaza absorb the diffuse first light, their rough stucco texture glistening against the damp earth tones of the surrounding architecture. A local shopkeeper in a denim jacket stands under the deep overhang of a wooden vigas porch, wiping a condensation-heavy copper pot with a gray rag, the metal catching a sharp, cool highlight from the wet sky. Rainwater drips steadily from the eaves onto the cobblestone street below, where a discarded coffee grinder sits near a puddle, its black enamel chipped and rusted.
