The heavy mist of a Zambapila dawn rests on the rough stucco walls of a modest kitchen, diffusing the pale gray light into a soft, uniform glow. A woman in a faded blue huipil stands at a scarred wooden counter, her hands moving with practiced rhythm as she arranges a stack of white ceramic plates, their glazed surfaces reflecting the dull ambient brightness. Beside her, a set of hammered copper comales rests on the stove, catching the faintest hint of warmth from the embers below, their textured metal contrasting sharply with the smooth, matte finish of the surrounding clay pots.
