Misty dawn light diffuses through the heavy coastal fog, softening the sharp edges of a wet Vancouver street corner near Gastown. Rain-slicked asphalt reflects the amber glow of a vintage streetlamp, while a lone commuter in a dark raincoat pauses under an awning, shaking out a dripping umbrella. Beside the entrance to a narrow brick building, a metal coat brush stands empty, its bristles stiff with moisture, leaning against a stack of weathered delivery crates. The quiet tension of the city waking up, with steam rising from a nearby grate and the distant silhouette of a ferry cutting through the gray water, showing the damp, heavy air of the Pacific Northwest morning.
