Cobbler's Workbench in Dublin
by Randall Pate
Golden hour light spills across a cluttered cobbler’s workbench, illuminating a worn leather apron draped over a wooden stool. A brass shoe brush rests beside a small jar of dark polish, its bristles catching the warm, low-angle sun. Nearby, a sketchbook lies open, revealing rough charcoal sketches of shoe lasts, while a pair of heavy work gloves sits folded on the edge. The scene is alive with the textures of Dublin’s artisanal craft, from the scratched clear acrylic of a protective screen to the hammered metal of a polishing tool reflecting the fading daylight. This is a moment of pause in a busy workshop, where the day’s labor is briefly suspended under the amber glow of sunset.
