Bright late morning light floods the covered patio of a South Congress coffee shop, illuminating a cluttered corner table where a local artist has paused her work. A ceramic mug sweats with condensation, its rim catching the harsh sun, while a paring knife rests beside a half-peeled lemon, its yellow skin curling onto a napkin. Nearby, a pin cushion bristles with colorful sewing pins, abandoned next to a sketchbook open to a charcoal study of the street. The background blurs into the busy sidewalk traffic, where pedestrians in summer attire hurry past the glass storefronts.
