Cloud Reflection in Chrome Sphere Atrium
by Monica Gomez
Soft gray clouds warp across the curved surface of a polished chrome sphere resting on a dark stone plinth. The metal acts as a convex mirror, compressing the sky into streaks of white and slate against the sphere's silver skin. Behind the sphere, the vaulted atrium rises with glass panels framing the overcast sky. Late morning light falls through the high windows, casting a cool, even glow that meets the warm glow of wall sconces tucked into the stone corners. Diagonal lines from the atrium's architecture cut across the view, creating a sharp visual tension against the sphere's perfect roundness. Autumn leaves in muted gold and rust colors are faintly visible on the floor below, against the cool metallic sheen. The reflection ends in a thin, sharp highlight along the sphere's equator where the light hits the curve.
