Late spring sunlight flattens the white stucco wall of a village lane near Bernal, exposing every grain of dust suspended in the air. A sport climber in bright synthetic gear presses against the textured surface, fingers gripping small holds while chalk dust swirls in the harsh noon glare. The sky above holds the pale blue of clearing weather, casting hard shadows that define the muscle tension in the climber's legs. Dust motes hang frozen in the beam of light, creating a visible haze around the ascending figure. The rough texture of the painted rock contrasts with the smooth plaster of the surrounding buildings, at the base of the action in a specific, sun-baked location. One flake of dry paint chips from the wall edge, landing softly on the climber's shoe.
