Misty dawn softens the concrete steps of a Durban beachfront kiosk, where a vendor in a faded blue shirt leans over a steaming saucepan, the metal gleaming with condensation. A white thermos sits precariously on the edge of the counter, next to a worn tool apron draped over a wooden stool. The air hangs thick with sea spray, blurring the distant ocean horizon into a pale gray wash. A child in a bright yellow scarf reaches for a paper cup, their breath visible in the cool air.
