A cluster of pigeons gathers on the wet asphalt near a yellow taxi cab idling at the curb, their feathers ruffled against the morning chill. Steam rises from a nearby subway grate, mixing with the exhaust of passing vehicles. The quiet, transitional moment before the city fully wakes, with the muted colors of the early morning contrasting against the vibrant yellow of the taxi and the dark silhouettes of pedestrians waiting for the light to change.
