Chemical Light Crate on Arizona Parade Ground

A canvas-wrapped crate of chemical light sticks rests on the cracked concrete of a parade ground in early winter Arizona. The matte green paint of the crate shows scuff marks where steel hardware has rubbed against the surface. Stamped identification cards are taped to the side, their edges curling slightly in the dry air. Cool utility light reflects off a nearby water feature, casting a silvery sheen across the rubber seals and the rough canvas weave. Fine dust particles hang suspended in the rotor wash, catching the light and blurring the background of distant palm trees. The crate sits at the intersection of the rule of thirds, anchored by the shadow of a hovering helicopter blade. one drop of water rolls down the side of the crate, tracing a path through the accumulated grime.
