Ceramic Cup in Kuala Lumpur

A chipped ceramic cup rests on the wet wooden sill of a shop front in Kuala Lumpur, catching the diffuse glow of the early morning sky. Rain droplets rest on the rim of the cup, distorting the reflection of the grey clouds above in tiny, shimmering arcs. Behind the cup, the textured plaster wall is marked by vertical streaks of water that darken the paint near the baseboard. One fallen frond from a nearby palm tree lies across the sill, its serrated edge pressed against the damp wood grain.
