Early light spills over the adobe walls of a Santa Fe courtyard, casting long, sharp shadows across the rough stucco. A weathered wooden peg basket sits on a low stone ledge, holding a few scattered flower petals that have fallen from a nearby pomegranate tree. Beside it, a ceramic vase holds a single sprig of dried sage, its brittle stems catching the soft morning glow. An American Bobtail cat, its thick fur dusted with pollen, stretches lazily on the sun-warmed ground, eyes half-closed against the brightening sky.
