Calligraphy Tables in Mersin Temple Courtyard Morning

First rays of sunrise illuminate a stone courtyard in Mersin, where rows of long wooden tables stand ready for a calligraphy session. Light rain falls across the dark, wet stone slabs, pooling in the shallow grooves of the ground. Sheets of rice paper, black inkstones, and bundles of brushes rest in precise alignment along the table surfaces. Shadows stretch from the foreground objects toward the ancient arched colonnades in the background, creating layers of depth that recede into the distance. Raindrops cluster on the edges of the paper, forming tiny, clear reflections of the grey sky. One brush lies untouched on the wet wood at the far edge of the nearest table.
