Blinking Indicators in Vancouver at The Deepest Night Sky Light

by Cohen Solis

Deep within a concrete service tunnel beneath Vancouver, the damp floor holds a small sump pool that mirrors the industrial ceiling above. Heavy steel pipes run along the rough walls, their surfaces slick with condensation. Small red and green indicator lights blink rhythmically from control boxes mounted at eye level, casting fleeting reflections on the water's surface. The scene is illuminated only by these artificial sources, leaving the surrounding darkness absolute. One drop of water falls from a joint, creating ripples that distort the image of the pipework.
