Beach Towel in Amsterdam
A narrow Amsterdam canal house facade reflects in the still, grey water of the Prinsengracht under a cool, overcast sky. On the stone quay, a wooden rowboat rests against the mooring bollard, its paint chipped and worn. One red beach towel is draped carelessly over the gunwale, the vibrant color stark against the muted tones of the brickwork and the damp stone. The scene is quiet, devoid of people, with the only movement coming from the slight ripple of the water against the hull. The light is flat and diffuse, typical of an early morning in the Netherlands, casting no strong shadows but highlighting the texture of the wet pavement and the rough weave of the towel.
