A Basenji stands centered in a small Kampala yard where the grass is clipped short and slightly damp from the rainy season. The dog's coat displays a sharp brindle pattern against the steel-blue ambient light of the last evening hours. Its distinctive curled tail rests high, and the upright ears frame a muzzle with fine, short fur. Behind the animal, a low concrete wall separates the yard from a glimpse of nearby rooftops. The light flattens shadows, rendering the dog's silhouette against the softening sky. Wet patches on the pavement reflect the fading sky, and a single rusted wire fence post anchors the right edge of the composition.
