Barge Navigating Tree Lined Canal Bend

A flat-topped cargo barge cuts through the narrow, winding channel of a California canal under a heavy winter sky. Tall, leafless trees line both banks, their bare branches creating a skeletal canopy against dramatic, dark clouds. The water surface acts as a mirror, reflecting the gray sky and the muted browns of the dormant vegetation. The barge moves slowly around a sharp switchback, its white hull against the deep, shadowed water. Sunlight breaks through the cloud cover in patches, casting bright, shimmering reflections on the ripples trailing the vessel. Rust stains mark the metal railings along the deck, and the water laps quietly against the concrete embankment. One shadow from a low-hanging branch falls across the bow.
