Early morning light spills through the tall, narrow window of a Krakow bakery, illuminating a stack of ceramic saucers waiting to be washed. The soft, diffuse glow catches the rim of an enamel pitcher, its blue chipped paint hinting at years of daily use. Beside it, a wooden mallet rests on a flour-dusted counter, evidence of the morning’s bread preparation. Outside, the cobblestones of the Old Town are still damp and empty, reflecting the pale sky.
