Autumn Switchback Road Above Lhasa Orchards

Copper-toned light spills across a winding mountain road that snakes through the rugged terrain far above the valley floor. Below, geometric blocks of dormant orchards and thin irrigation lines stretch across the landscape, their muted browns and grays against the dark asphalt. Low-hanging clouds drift through the pass, softening the distant ridges and casting shifting shadows over the rooftops of scattered settlements. The road curves sharply in tight switchbacks, revealing the steep drop-off and the expansive topography below. Bare branches of early winter trees line the path, their skeletal forms stark against the warm glow of the setting sun. A stone retaining wall runs along the outer edge of a curve, its rough texture catching the fading light.
