Cool early morning light spills over the ancient limestone of the East Bank, casting long, sharp shadows from a bustling fruit stall in Luxor. A vendor in a faded white galabeya arranges piles of bright yellow bananas and green dates on a worn wooden crate, his hands moving with practiced speed. Beside him, a coiled rope rests against a stack of empty cardboard boxes, its fibers rough and dusty. A sun hat sits atop a pyramid of melons, its brim curved and faded by the sun. In the background, the silhouette of a palm tree sways gently, its fronds catching the first hints of warmth.
