Arranging Produce in Krakow
by Pedro Horton
The first light after rain washes over the cobblestones of the Main Market Square, turning the historic Tenement Houses into wet, reflective mirrors. A street vendor, bundled in a damp wool coat, leans against a wooden cart loaded with fresh produce, carefully arranging bright orange carrots and leafy greens on a slatted shelf. Water droplets rest on the plastic sheeting draped over the display, catching the gray sky. In the background, the twin spires of St. Mary’s Basilica rise through the mist, their brickwork darkened by moisture. A few pedestrians with umbrellas hurry past, their reflections distorted in the puddles, showing hurried movement against the stationary, enduring architecture of Krakow.
