Amber Light on Frost Pool Heathland

Rich amber sunset light spills across a coastal heath beside a shallow frost pool on a floodplain near Ngaoundéré. The rainy season leaves the ground saturated and dark, against the pale, crystalline ice edges of the pool. Heat haze shimmers above the wet earth, distorting the horizon where long evening shadows stretch from low shrubs. Golden rays illuminate the rough textures of dried grasses and the smooth, glassy surface of the frozen water. Wind-carved solitude fills the wide panoramic view as the light fades, leaving a stark boundary between the warm glow and the cooling air. A thin layer of frost rests on the reed tips at the water's edge.
