Late afternoon light slants through the open front of a wooden tailoring shop in Hoi An, illuminating a narrow aisle cluttered with bolts of vibrant silk and linen. A woman in a simple grey tunic stands on a small plastic step stool, adjusting a hanging garment near the ceiling beam, her hands steady as she works. Below her, a traditional bamboo broom leans against a stack of folded fabrics, its bristles dusted with lint. Sunlight catches the edge of a large potted fern on the floor, water droplets clinging to its broad, waxy leaves, against the dry, dusty air.
