Pale dawn light slips across the polished concrete floor of a checkout lane in Ohrid, illuminating dust particles suspended in the air. A metal florist cooler stands packed with wrapped bouquets, their cellophane gleaming under the flat store illumination. Wrapped stems in autumnal hues of rust, gold, and deep crimson fill the shelves beside one another, creating a bright, consumer-facing order. Reflections on the floor create a mirrored composition, doubling the rows of flowers and the cool metal edges. The glass doors of the cooler catch the low morning angle, highlighting the crisp folds of the wrapping paper and the vibrant petals visible through the clear plastic. A final shadow falls across the bottom edge of the cooler, at the base of the stillness of the pre-opening moment.
