Wisteria Tunnel at Dawn in Djibouti Meadow

by Arnold Nunez

Deep shadow dominates the foreground where dense clusters of purple wisteria hang in heavy curtains, their petals catching a thin rim of pale sunrise light along the edges. The tunnel arches over a path that recedes into a bright meadow, creating distinct layers of depth against a backdrop of dramatic, textured clouds. Cool season air is suggested by the crisp, saturated violet tones of the flowers against the muted, dusty greens of the surrounding Djibouti scrub. The ground beneath the canopy remains in cool blue darkness, while the opening of the tunnel reveals a sliver of golden morning sky. One cluster of blossoms hangs low, its purple edge sharply defined against the fading darkness of the interior.
