The dog occupies the left edge of the frame, facing slightly inward with an attentive, still expression that highlights its distinct egg-shaped head and compact ears. Warm interior shadows pool around the base of the walls, against the cool winter daylight filtering through a nearby window. A faint doorway shadow cuts across the plaster, adding depth to the minimalist setting. The floorboards show a visible seam running toward the subject, at the base of the animal in a lived-in space rather than a sterile backdrop.
