Window Display in Barcelona
by Brady Walton
Rain-slicked cobblestones of a narrow Gothic Quarter alley reflect the pale, diffused first light, glistening under the damp air. A small, independent bakery display window, fogged slightly from the interior warmth, reveals a cluttered but inviting counter where a blue floral porcelain jar sits beside a chipped ceramic mortar. Outside, the wet pavement mirrors the rusted latch of a nearby iron gate and the faded blue paint of a shuttered door. One wooden chair with a worn cushion rests against the wall, sheltered from the lingering drizzle. The quiet, lived-in texture of Barcelona after a storm, where everyday objects and weathered materials share space with the damp, reflective street.
