White Dog in Beirut

Under the flat, diffused light of a winter noon, a busy corner of a Beirut street buzzes with daily life. A vendor’s cart overflows with crates of vibrant green hydrangeas, their petals damp from the morning chill, contrasting sharply with the rough, sun-bleached limestone facade of the adjacent building. A white dog stands patiently near the cart’s wheels, its fur catching the pale sky’s reflection. Nearby, a woman in a thick wool cardigan haggles over prices, her hands gesturing toward a stack of white soup bowls ready for serving.
