First light diffuses through a heavy, rain-washed haze over a Los Angeles intersection, turning the asphalt into a slick, dark mirror reflecting the neon glow of a nearby laundromat. A street sweeper, parked at the curb with its brushes still, has a yellow measuring tape coiled loosely on its hood, likely left by a worker who stepped away for a moment. The wet pavement shows the distorted, vibrant streaks of red and blue from the signage, creating a chaotic but beautiful pattern of light. In the background, a low-slung mid-century apartment building with stucco walls stands damp and gray, its windows reflecting the overcast sky.
