Soft afternoon light falls through sheer curtains, casting gentle gradients across the polished wood floor of a Yanaka ryokan lobby. The space remains still, devoid of people, with a reception desk centered under a warm glow that highlights the grain of the timber. Small, sharp reflections dance on the lacquered surfaces, showing the meticulous care of the room. Sliding shoji screens line the walls, their translucent paper diffusing the daylight into a hazy, inviting haze. A small arrangement of fresh greenery sits on a low table, its vibrant color against the muted earth tones of the tatami mats nearby. The shallow depth of field blurs the background slightly, keeping focus on the texture of the wood and the quiet, welcoming emptiness of the entrance area.
