Vintage Light Meter on Cabinet Shelf Under Warm Lamp
by Micah Eaton
Warm candlelight spills across a polished wooden writing desk near Jing'an, casting deep, quiet shadows against the walls. A vintage silver light meter rests on a collection cabinet shelf, its brass dials catching the glow of a single archival lamp. Late autumn air is suggested by the heavy fabric of a nearby curtain and the amber hue of the light filtering through the window. The meter's leather case shows fine grain and wear, while the glass face reflects the flickering flame above. Beside the device, a stack of aged papers lies flat, their edges slightly curled. The lamp's shade casts a soft, circular pool of illumination that highlights the dust motes suspended in the still air. A thin shadow of the lamp's base stretches across the desk surface, ending at the metal hinge of the cabinet door.
