A busy Cairo street corner glows under the harsh mix of sodium vapor and neon signs after dark. A wooden stall overflows with pyramids of dried apricots and shiny ceramic mugs stacked precariously on shelves. A vendor in a worn vest sorts through crates while a customer leans in, examining the fruit. Lint rests on the dark fabric of a nearby coat draped over a chair.
