Flat noon light bleaches the bright yellow stucco facade of a small corner shop in Oaxaca, where a vendor in a faded blue shirt leans over a wooden counter stacked with bright green chayote and red tomatoes. A white plastic mesh colander rests precariously on a stack of cardboard boxes, catching the harsh overhead sun that casts deep, sharp shadows beneath the awning. To the right, a rusted metal hinge on a closed shutter shows pitted orange corrosion against the peeling white paint, while a threadbare blue cushion on a nearby bench reveals frayed cotton threads at its seam.
