Vendor Cart in Prague

Under the flat, shadowless glare of midday Prague, a street vendor’s cart sits anchored to the cobblestones of a side alley near the Charles Bridge. The metal surface is worn and scratched, holding a cluster of daily necessities: a chipped ceramic wash basin filled with soapy water for rinsing hands, next to a glass sugar jar catching the diffuse light. A wooden peg rail runs along the cart’s side, holding a single faded red cardigan that drapes heavily in the still air. Nearby, a pair of rubber gloves and a small metal ashtray rest beside a stack of recipe cards printed in Czech.
