Urban Balcony in Berlin
by Lynn Nash
Blue hour settles over a cluttered Berlin balcony, where the cool ambient light reflects off glossy enamel surfaces of stacked pots and a chipped ceramic bowl. A woven cane chair sits askew, casting intricate, rhythmic shadows across a rough concrete floor, while a discarded comb and a measuring spoon ring lie near a rusted coal scuttle, hinting at recent domestic activity. The scene is framed by the vertical lines of neighboring brick buildings, their windows glowing with warm yellow light against the deepening twilight. A painted rowboat, oddly placed on the terrace, adds a splash of faded red, against the muted grays of the city skyline.
