Unloading Crates in Nashville

Mist rests on the brick facades of East Nashville as a delivery truck idles at the curb, its headlights cutting through the gray dawn haze. A worker in a high-visibility vest unloads crates from the open back, steam rising from a discarded coffee cup on the wet asphalt. The street is lined with old Southern porches, their wooden railings damp and dark against the pale sky. A neighbor walks a dog past the scene, their breath visible in the cold air. The traffic light above glows amber, reflecting in the puddles that have formed from the night’s rain.
